Ancona

A large urban centre of reference for the Conero Riviera is the city of Ancona. There are many places that are worth a visit, starting with the Duomo of San Ciriaco that like a silent guardian peers over the sea ready to defend the city. Next is the Park of Cardeto, the Roman Amphitheatre and the Piazza del Plebiscito, a fine living area in the historical city centre. The civic art gallery, known as La Pinacoteca, houses works by Guercino, Lotto and Tiziano, while the Archeological Museum occupies an entire building and is rich with prehistoric findings. Finally, the Omero Museum deserves a special mention as it is the only tactile art museum in Europe.
